Shakespeare 450 : registration open

The Société Française Shakespeare is pleased to announce the launch of the SHAKESPEARE 450 conference website, dedicated to the week-long celebration in Paris of the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth, April 21-27, 2014.

Registration for the conference is now open! Early registration ends December 31st, 2013.

Over 350 participants from 40 countries will meet for a programme of plenary lectures—by Yves Bonnefoy, Michèle le Dœuff, Dominique de Font-Réaulx, Sarah Hatchuel, Andreas Höfele, Ton Hoenselaars, Peter Holland, François Laroque—40 panels sessions, 20 seminars, and 5 workshops. The preliminary programme on the conference website is updated daily.

Be among the first to register in order to book tickets for the numerous cultural and social events planned during the week:

  1. Monday 21: lunch buffet at the Théâtre de l’Odéon. Dinner-cruise on bateau-mouche

  2. Tuesday 22: film-concert: Hamlet, dir. Svend Gade, with an original score by Brian Harris

  3. Wednesday 23: birthday party

  4. Thursday 24: premiere of I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Opéra Bastille

  5. Friday 25: reception

  6. Saturday 26: performance of Othello, directed by Léonie Simaga at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier of the Comédie-Française

  7. Sunday 27 and throughout the week: visits to museums of interest for Shakespeare lovers (the basilica of St-Denis, Musée Victor Hugo, Musée Delacroix, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Musée du Louvre, backstage tours of the Comédie-Française…)
